This environmentally thoughtful bed and breakfast, located in the Berkshires, was founded and created by two artists:

Nana Simopoulos composer/instrumentalist/vocalist and co-Founder of Topia Arts Center. Her most recent release, Daughters Of The Sun, hit #1 on the New World Music radio charts. She leads an international all-star musical ensemble.

Caryn Heilman is the Artistic Director of LiquidBody media, movement and dance, a nonprofit performing arts and educational organization she founded after performing with the internationally recognized Paul Taylor Dance Company for ten years.

"We fell in love with the Berkshires in the 90s, when Nana bought a small lake house near Jacob's Pillow and Caryn began touring with the Paul Taylor Dance Company. For Caryn and her dance colleagues, Jacob's Pillow was one of their favorite spots in the world to tour because it was one of the few places where they could see the stars, stand on the grassy earth, look at wild flowers and still dance for a culturally literate dance audience. In 2004, during a visioning meeting for the Topia Arts Center with key stakeholders from the community a local resident walked us across the rail trail behind the theater to see if the abandoned Pleasant Street Lodge might be able to contribute to the revitalization efforts underway that the Arts Center would play a key role in."

They took that abandoned lodge and gave it a whole new life. The Topia Inn has been created to in harmony with the gorgeous natural beauty that drew them to the Berkshires. It has been built to the highest standards in environmental building (LEED Platinum). They have 8 individually decorated rooms reflecting different artistic personalities and locations. There fresh baked breakfast (pictured above) with all organic and local ingredients is served with organic, fair-trade freshly ground coffee and an array of exotic teas served in their common room which is decorated with Harmony Art's Graceland fabric. I am hoping to get a chance to visit this gem some day soon!
